Beginning Quilting I

Ready to explore quilting? This modern, beginner-friendly class introduces you to the essential techniques that form the foundation of most quilts —while you work on a simple, stylish table runner.

In this class, you’ll learn how to:

  • Choose coordinating fabrics and understand basic quilting terminology

  • Use a rotary cutter, ruler, and mat to cut pieces

  • Sew consistent 1/4" seams and piece beginner-friendly quilt blocks that turn into a table runner

  • working with sashing and boarders to turn your blocks into a table runner
  • Assemble your quilt “sandwich” (top, batting, and backing)

  • Practice approachable quilting techniques with your domestic sewing machine

  • Begin binding to give your project a clean, finished edge

You’ll build confidence with every step and leave with the skills needed to move on to more advanced quilting projects. This class is perfect for sewists who are comfortable with their sewing machine, but new to the world of quilting.
