Cosy Cottage Tote

Build your own little fabric cottage and turn it into a one-of-a-kind tote! In this class, you’ll make the Cosy Cottage Tote by Square Stories, a playful project that combines foundation paper piecing, patchwork, quilting, and plenty of room to get creative.
You’ll learn the basics of foundation paper piecing (FPP) as you construct your cottage windows and door, making this a great introduction to the technique. Then make it your own! Play with fabric placement, piece a patchwork roof, add optional appliqué details, and dig into your favorite scraps and prints to give your cottage plenty of personality.
This class is taught over two sessions, with homework between classes to keep the project moving. In the second session, we’ll bring everything together, quilt our cottage panels, and construct them into a finished, functional tote.
In this class, you’ll learn how to:
-
Get started with foundation paper piecing
-
Piece and assemble FPP sections accurately
-
Incorporate patchwork into your cottage design
-
Add optional appliqué and decorative details
-
Get creative with fabric placement, scraps, and favorite printt
-
Quilt and construct your cottage into a finished tote
No two cottages need to look alike. This is a great opportunity to learn new techniques while making a project that’s completely your own.
