Beginning Sewing

Ready to learn how to sew? Beginning Sewing is designed for new sewists who want to get comfortable with their sewing machine while building practical skills through three different projects.
Over three classes, you’ll learn how to:
-
Set up, thread, and operate your sewing machine
-
Wind and install a bobbin
-
Understand basic sewing machine functions and settings
-
Work with different types of fabric
-
Cut fabric accurately using a rotary cutter, ruler, and mat
-
Sew consistent seam allowances
-
Learn basic seam finishing, hemming, and topstitching
-
Work with interfacing
-
Install a zipper using a zipper foot
-
Box corners and learn other useful construction techniques
You’ll make three projects as you build your skills: a simple table runner, a French seam tote bag, and a zippered pouch. Each project introduces new techniques while giving you plenty of practice using your machine.
